Dr. Ashton was born and raised in Sydney,Nova Scotia,Canada. She attended the University College of Cape Breton where she received a biology degree, then furthered her studies in veterinary medicine at the Atlantic Veterinary College at the University of Prince Edward Island in PEI, Canada. She was immediately taken with the behavioral studies at the AVC under the direction of Dr. Norma Guy at UPEI.
After graduation in 2003 she moved to Elmsdale, NS where she currently practices focusing on companion animal medicine, specifically, on behavior of dogs and cats. She resides here with her husband and four children.
