Good morning! This is my first post. Please bear with me.

I am considering switching a canine patient from Fluoxetine to Clomipramine. However, I want to be sure that the switch is performed in a safe manner. I am having trouble finding consistent information. Any recommendations?

    Thank you,

    Anik

    Dear Anik,

The recommendation that I have received in the past for these two medications, and used, is to decrease one medication by 25% for two weeks and then repeat until phased out. At the same time, phase in the new one at the same rate, 25% to begin for two weeks and then repeat to increase until to desired level.

Maybe someone else will comment too but that is how I handle it. Hope that helps!

    Best,

    Carolyn
