American Veterinary Society of Animal Behavior Student Chapter at Cornell
Chapter Description
The Cornell Animal Behavior Club focuses on bringing knowledge on animal behavior and its implementation into veterinary practice to veterinary students. We pride ourselves on integrating the behavior of many different species including small animals, zoo and wildlife species, companion exotic species, fish, equines, and others. We hope to teach students basic animal behavior so that they can advise clients, keep themselves and their patients safe, and use behavior as part of their diagnostic method.

Chapter Activities
This past year, we held multiple behavior rounds during which veterinarians and veterinary professionals discussed the behavior of a specific species or group of animals and any interesting behavioral clinical cases they have seen. We have collaborated with various clubs such as the Laboratory Animal Medicine Club (LAMC) on events to highlight how integral behavior medicine is with other specialties. For example, we co-hosted two Rat Handling and Behavior Lab in the Fall and Spring with the LAMC. This coming year, we will continue hosting behavior rounds. We hope to bring in more speakers and continue to collaborate with other clubs to share more about what it is like working in the veterinary behavior field and opportunities to use behavior skills/knowledge in practice. We would also like to work towards developing more hand-on labs such as positive-reinforcement training tutorials.
