Membership is open to all DVM, board certified DVM, DVM with additional certifications in special interest areas, Veterinary Technicians, VTS’s, or doctorate level animal behaviorists. AVSAB is an association focused on sharing knowledge and expertise in animal behavior to veterinarians in general practice, shelter care, government, as well as specialty practice in behavior.
Veterinarian Membership – $95/year
Open to any graduate of an accredited college of veterinary medicine, veterinary graduates with additional certification or board certification granted by specialty college of veterinary medicine. This includes international veterinarians.

Veterinary Technician Membership – $95/year
Open to any Veterinary technicians who have graduated from an AVMA (American Veterinary Medical Association) approved and accredited
college or school of veterinary technology, or any currently credentialed veterinary technician. Technician Members shall submit evidence of a veterinary technician degree from an AVMA approved and accredited college, or evidence of state/province licensure, with membership application.
Affiliate Membership – $95/year
Open to non-veterinarians, including U.S. and international residents. Candidates must have a Ph.D. in animal behavior or a closely related field and be currently active in research and/or practice of applied animal behavior and membership must be approved by AVSAB’s executive board. A curriculum vitae must accompany membership application. Annual dues payment is required for membership.

Individual Student Membership – FREE
Open to any Student of an accredited College of Veterinary Medicine, as well as, any Student currently enrolled in an AVMA approved Veterinary Technician program. Apply as an individual to access the full functionality of the site, including participation in our forums, the ability to network with other members, and to keep in our contacts for continued membership post graduation.
Student Chapter – Behavior Club Membership – $95/year
Behavior clubs at accredited veterinary colleges can be members. Requirements are a club advisor who must be an AVSAB member in practice or faculty. All club members are free. Each individual club member will receive the same benefits that an Individual Student Membership offers. Benefits for Club Memberships include stipends for speakers from the speaker list, student chapter awards, scholarships, and more.
